Thank you for these beautiful words! I especially loved what you said about forgetting and then remembering yourself over and over again - it’s something that I so often return to as well, and remind myself of when I feel like I’ve lost myself amidst a period of depression. And congratulations on being named a bestselling Substack writer! That is fantastic! Sending you so much love🫶🏻✨
Thank you for your wise and thoughtful words. I am a therapist and have shared this with a few client's who really needed to hear it and connect with the world in their pain. So much of life's struggles are shared experiences with slightly different presentations.
I feel like printing these 10 items and viewing them as a reminder each day ✨🫶🏼 thank you for your art and when called, sharing it with us-- appreciate you!
Brilliantly truthful. "Let knees wobble in front of others"
I laughed heartily at your first words of questioning yourself on random writings. Just finished a piece, having accepted my own randomness. Life is random and ordered. or maybe Life is simply life, being human, we can either choose one or the other or accept it all. Yay to you.
I enjoyed reading your list 💛 Also, thank you for sharing “On The Discomfort of Slowing Down” by Fanny Priest. I resonated with much of what she said 👍🏼
I loved the list format. Each one resonated so deeply despite the brevity! For me, particularly #6 “I always feel a deep wave of grief when I finally make decisions I know I’ve needed to make… and the grief of that feels a lot more whole than the grief of never making the changes and wondering what could have been.” Yes yes yes.
“I’m also getting a little shaky in thinking about the financial aspect of being a creative and not knowing exactly what’s next. But it has also felt incredibly freeing ... “
I could have highlighted lots of things you wrote, but the financial aspect of being a creative is the biggest stressor for me currently. I’m also very grateful to have the freedom to set my own schedule and do work that I love.
Thanks for the link to the blog about transitions, too, and for the gorgeous photos of Big Sur.
I hear you on the stressors of it, and also the freedom of it at the same time -- it makes it complicated sometimes. And thank you for your reflections here <3
Omg! This was SOooo moving. Chills...tears... nodding my head in agreement as I read, re-read and saved...thank you for these inspiring, relatable words... I feel deeply grateful for the opportunity to read them ♥️
Also, the guest book in my room totally broke me into pieces when I was there last. I wept and wept - and then I found an entry by somebody I know...it was so magical.
Deetjens guestbooks are my favorite 😭 I read them before bed every time I stay there and always write a full page. If you ever stay in Petite Cuisine, the brass teapot is full of notes too and it's the sweetest.

Thank you for this reflection and for sharing -- it's always to helpful to know we're not the only ones.

My pleasure, Lisa! ✨ and ooouuu, printable sounds epic -- May it be what it shall be! ♥️

So glad that connected with you -- it's such a hard one to come to terms with, yet so helpful to remember. I know I have to remind myself often. <3
