Beautiful. 🤍 Thank you for modeling a different, meaningful way to engage away from social media that honors you. I am so looking forward to this.

Your work is refreshing, inspiring, and resonant. I only recently discovered your offerings through the Substack of Carissa Potter, and the timeliness of your message on belonging struck a chord. Looking forward to reading more of your stories in 2022 and beyond.

Thank you Lisa. This is a powerful statement of presence in a world that encourages absence (in so many different physical and mental ways).

Thank you for taking the courage to step up for the great value of your content. This gives me hope and joy, as a writer. I support you.

From Italy, with love

It is such an honor -- and thank you for these words that truly touch my heart. It isn't always easy to access that courage as writers or people who share in any way -- I hope you tap into it within yourself, too. And thank you for your support. <3

Lisa, I'm so so grateful for your presence ever since I got to know of you on instagram. Your words (through instagram, newsletter, podcasts) have been life-changing for me in my personal healing journey and professionally as someone who's on the way to becoming a social worker. Thank you for all that you do and I'm happy to support you on this platform ❤🌹

Love from Singapore.

SO. MUCH. YES. Thank you for leading by example Lisa. I can't wait to make this reading time into such a beautiful ritual and am grateful that we all have such a soft spot to land in this space.

Making this reading time into a ritual feels so special -- and it's what I hope it feels like to read. There's something really sweet about letting ourselves take time to actually be with what we're reading, rather than quickly swiping and scrolling past it all. Thank you for being here <3

Thank you for modelling this, Lisa. Creatives need to be compensated for their work. Yours is beautiful, and I'm grateful that you've shared it freely for so long, and that you're honouring yourself and showing up in a new way.

I’m so thrilled to find a platform outside of Instagram where I can not only read your beautiful words, but perhaps even start sharing my own again. I had deleted Instagram a while ago and whilst I mostly revel in the quiet space away from the constant stimulation of the app, I miss reading words and connecting with work such as your own. I can’t wait to keep up with you here on Substack. Your decision to change the narrative for yourself of being a writer in this social media age is inspiring. Thank you 🧡

I have been experimenting with focusing on long form content creation and consumption since the end of last year. It’s been rewarding and lovely and feels so much more meaningful, it’s also meant that I’ve discovered new to me creators, such as yourself 🧡. I think there’s a whole collective of us stepping away from that fast paced, short form content to this slower paced, more thoughtful long form content, and I am so here for it!

“The pieces of me that are collecting dust…”

I really identified with this. At just turning 70 last month, and spending so much of my life caregiving for others; ie—raising 4 children—3 of who are now in various stages of addictions recovery. Going back to school at age 57 and becoming a therapeutic massage therapist for 10 years—closing when covid hit; caring for my dad for 8 years until his passing in 2019; (having a serious car accident in 2017) while raising chickens and all that entailed; then caring for my husband who went thru 4 joint replacements; by the time I got around to getting back to me—I was in dire need of care myself. A few months ago I started seeing a counselor. I’ve gone through 4 surgeries. This last one was Nov 4.

Part of my picking up the pieces of me and shooing away the dust rabbits was honing my writing on Substack myself. It’s been nourishing for my soul these past two weeks.

Thank you for how eloquently you put yourself out there with this piece. I loved it!

(I too was a potter at one time, played guitar, then built my own ukulele, became an herbalist, and master gardener and I love taking pictures! All things I loved.)

I never gave up the gardening though because it’s when I’m at my best exchanging dust for earth.

Since writing a response here on Nov. 11th, a month later Dec. 10th, I got an accidental, total, hip replacement via tripping while on the way to my bathroom and breaking myself. I did crawl my way to the toilet though—when ya gotta go, ya gotta go!!

Nothing more humbling than having two large EMT’s trying to get you gently off a toilet from a tiny bathroom without hearing screams. Did I say they were young and handsome? (Wait, wait! Let me flush first!)

So here I am now three months out and walking without a cane. Doing exercises every day at home and at a rehab two times a week. I’m even able to get carefully down on my yoga mat again doing modified routines.

Well spring is here, and I’m eager to get back to what I love—Gardening. Now if the snow would just leave…
